FAQS

ARE YOU LICENSED, INSURED AND DBS CHECKED?

Yes, yes, and yes! Outward Hounds is licensed with a 5 star rating by Exeter City Council (License Numbers ABO07 & ABO11) and is veterinary approved. We are also fully insured with a specialist animal services insurance company and have up to date DBS certificates.

WHAT AREAS DO YOU COVER?

We cover most of Exeter including Topsham and Exminster. We unfortunately aren't able to cover Pinhoe or Cranbrook.

DO YOU CLEAN DOGS BEFORE DROPPING THEM HOME?

We always try our best to send dogs home in the same condition we collect them in however, given the unpredictable English weather, this sometimes is a challenge! We have cleaning equipment in our vehicle but the really mucky pups will be given a bath before going home.

WHAT DOES A DAY AT OUTWARD HOUNDS LOOK LIKE?

All dogs will be picked up in the morning and will be taken straight out for a 2 hour off-lead walk in the beautiful countryside where they will have the chance to explore and play with us and other furry friends. We try to vary the location as much as we can, depending on the weather and the pups we have in that day.

Pups who have just joined us for the walk will be dropped home on the way back from the walk. Daycare dogs will be brought home with us and will spend the afternoon roaming around the garden, snoozing, and having cuddles with us and their four-legged friends. Tired but happy dogs will then be dropped home after having a fun filled day!

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Unless extreme circumstances, all cancellations require a 24 hour notice period to avoid full payment due to our very limited availability.

WHAT TIME DO YOU PICK UP AND DROP OFF AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

We pick up between 7.30 and 8:45am. Drop home for adventure walk pups is between 12 and 1pm and daycare dogs will be dropped back between 4 and 5:15pm. We are happy to collect and drop off at your home or workplace. We're fully insured key holders so you don't have to worry if you won't be in!

MY DOG ISN'T GREAT WITH OTHER DOGS, CAN THEY STILL COME TO OUTWARD HOUNDS?

Unfortunately not. Although we understand that not all dogs love being around groups of other dogs, our daycare is a friendly and sociable place for dogs to interact and play together. If your dog isn't going to enjoy that or shows any form of aggression, then sadly we aren't the right environment for them.

ARE YOUR STAFF CANINE FIRST AID TRAINED?

Yes! All of our staff are canine first aiders and we carry a first aid kit with us at all times in case of emergency.

WHAT TREATS DO YOU USE?

We only use homemade, unprocessed treats:
- Peanut butter and banana oat biscuits
- Sardine and anchovy traybake
- Apple and carrot traybake (GF)
- Cooked chicken chunks (GF)

DO YOU CATER FOR PUPPIES AND OLDER DOGS WHO CAN'T WALK FOR LONG PERIODS?

Yes we do. We cater for dogs of all sizes and fitness levels, from young pups to seniors. Get in touch if you'd like to find out more.
